Workshops’ goal

Students and recent graduates of film directing and screenwriting from Russian and Polish film schools are invited to take part in four workshops to be conducted by filmmakers from Russia and Poland. The goal of the workshops is to make short doumentary films created by Russians in Poland, and by Poles in Russia. The best films will be shown at special public film presentations in Moscow and Warsaw during December 2005. They may also be emitted on television in both countries.

We are looking for young artists who would like to test their skills while creating their vision of their neighbor country, working within these guidelines:

  1. The film's central characters should be two individuals with a similar scope of experiences (neighbors from the same block, work associates, members of the same family, political party, age group etc.), while at the same time differing drastically from each other in some way - their lifestyle, outward appearance, hierarchy of values, world-view.
  2. Participants from Poland make their films in Russia under the guidance of a Russian tutor, whereas the Russian participants make their films in Poland with a Polish tutor.
  3. Length of the films - up to 10 min.
  4. Production technology to be utilized - DV

I don’t know how an idea comes into mind. This is something that just comes. From where? It is derived from everything that we have touched thus far in life.
